The Glades

I've been watching A&E's The Glades regularly. Pretty entertaining stuff, and of course there was that caiman in the first episode. How could I resist? Also, I sort of know Matt Whitten, who's the supervising producer. I liked a couple of novels he wrote, and he and talked at a few conventions. He even tuckerized me in an L&O episode he wrote years ago. Last night's episode was written by Lee Goldberg and William Rabkin. I also know Lee, and I know he's a Harry Whittington fan. While I got a kick out of the entire episode, my favorite part was the fake name used by one of the suspects: Ashley Carter. Judy wondered why I laughed when I heard the name, so I had to explain about The Sword of the Golden Stud and other novels. I'm looking forward to the second episode that Goldberg and Rabkin wrote, coming later this season.

I found the lead so off-putting in the first episode that I quit watching. Jackie said the second wasn't as annoying so I might give it another try (we recorded the others). Or not.

I enjoyed last night's episode very motch. Coincidently, word verification: motch.

Bill, I'm glad you're enjoying The Glades. It just so happens I read your book A Bond With Death last weekend and really enjoyed it. I also got your book Murder in Four Parts and am looking forward to reading that too. As I said to you when we met, I found your books inspiring. They inspired me to write my mystery novels, so I continue to be incredibly grateful to you. Take good care, Matt Witten

Thanks for stopping by, Matt, and especially the kind words. If you ever make it to a Bouchercon again, I'd love to sit down and talk for a while!

I put that Ashley Carter reference in knowing that Bill Crider was, perhaps, the one person in America who would appreciate it.

Like my buddy Matt, I am a big Bill Crider fan, especially of his westerns OUTRAGE AT BLANCO and TEXAS VIGILANTE.

Since we don't have A&E on our package, the Blushing Bride and I have to wait until we can watch online--but watch we do. And we enjoy it too.
