There was an urban legend making the rounds many years ago that Question Mark was Bert Convy (the late host of "Tattle Tales" among other sterling seventies entertainments). Someone with more knowledge of rock 'n' roll arcana will have to tell us who he really was.

Personally, I always thought "96 Tears" sounded like Van Morrison in his "Gloria"/"Here Comes the Night" days.

Here's what it says about ?: "His eccentric behavior helped to briefly establish the group in the national consciousness. He claimed (and still claims) to be a Martian who lived with dinosaurs in a past life, and he never appears in public without sunglasses. He asserts that he has traveled into the future and visited other planets."

Perhaps, on the whole, to have been Bert Convy would have been better.
