Well, no. Shocked the shockable...and there are plenty more gorefests where these came from (no one even mentioned THE MAN BEHIND THE SUN by the time I read the post and comments, nor, of course, SALO), much less much in the way of real horror films...which, I suggest, MARTYRS is, the "Human Guinea Pig" sequence apparently is at least in part (I think I remember correctly that the extremely unpleasant mermaid film is a part of that Japanese film cycle) and THE CHILDREN might be, but the Camille Keaton I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE is not (being in all senses a bloody-minded revenge film), any more than such offal as LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET or for that matter LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT is. Or SNUFF. Or. Torture porn really isn't horror, even if it is a horror. Even such a literal excrement-fest as HUMAN CENTIPEDE is a horror film, if a wildly terrible and overrated one, given its fantasticated nature. Chacun a son gout...there certainly are enough atrocious horror films out there for anyone to seek out...but there are also similarly atrocious suspense films, cruel stories, and pseudo-documentaries for anyone to wallow in.

I haven't seen most of these. Gorefests never appealed to me in the least. Nor do excrement-fests.
