I've seen a surprising number of these and most meant...nothing. Or let's just say I didn't think much of most of them. I'm on record as hating ERASERHEAD as much as anything I've ever seen because it gave me a massive migraine. HEAD sucked, I {HEART} HUCKABEES was unwatchable (to me). We loved PUTNEY SWOPE so went to see POUND when it came out.

Sucked big time.

I just read about ALTERED STATES in MAD AS HELL, the book about NETWORK and Paddy Chayefsky, and whatever the latter's hopes for the movie were, they didn't work. He was right that Ken Russell was exactly the wrong director.

Yes, I do like a few of the others, including PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK and BEING JOHN MALKOVICH.

I liked the last two you mentioned, too. And I'm not surprised you've seen a lot of these.

POUND was just too weird, at least for me in 1970. Needless to say, probably, Jackie hated it.

I've seen part of Eraserhead (couldn't stick it out to the end), Wizard of Oz and Picnic at Hanging Rock, part of Un chien andalou, and maybe another one or two. I must say I will run a mile from most of the rest, based on the descriptions. Starting with Boxing Helena.
