From the "We Don't Pay Our Teachers Enough " file : Jackie went on her Senior Trip to Washington that Spring and she says they sang "Wooly Bully" all the way there and all the way back.

My twins went on a church youth group trip to
Arizona last summer and the youth pastor selected the entire Duck Dynasty series on DVD to watch on the overhead tv. All my girls could say was thank God for iPods and iPhones!

Also, I think Wilson Pickett did a soul cover version of "Engine Engine Number 9" several years later.

Isn't there some law against subjecting people to Duck Dynasty videos? If not, there should be.

I never heard Wilson Pickett do that song. I'm going to have to look for it.

Here is the NY list 5/5/65:

1 1 MRS. BROWN YOU’VE GOT A LOVELY DAUGHTER - Herman’s Hermits
2 2 TICKET TO RIDE - The Beatles
3 11 BACK IN MY ARMS AGAIN - The Supremes
4 7 LAND OF 1000 DANCES - Cannibal & The Headhunters
5 15 HELP ME, RHONDA - The Beach Boys
6 3 THE MOUSE - Soupy Sales
7 5 I’LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER YOU - The Seekers
8 6 I DO LOVE YOU - Billy Stewart
9 16 IT’S NOT UNUSUAL - Tom Jones
10 10 COUNT ME IN - Gary Lewis & The Playboys

"Wooly Bully" was only #23. It was on the way to #1. Soupy was still in the top 10.

Soupy was a rock star!

I've now listened to Wilson Pickett's Engine #9. It's barely recognizable as the same song Roger Miller did.

I don't think I want to hear it.

I think I'll go listen to Sam the Sham & the Pharoahs doing "L'il Red Riding Hood" instead.

What you don't want to hear is "The Mouse." OMG, as the kids used to say.
