Where is Carl Hiaasen? Or Tim Dorsey's Serge A. Storms? There is No One more Florida than Serge, who loves the state.

I'd have included Paul Levine's Jake Lassiter and Solomon and Lord.

What about Randy Wayne White's Doc Ford, a series that is now on book 23.

I'm with Jeff--Where's Skink?

Mark S. says, Lester Dent's two Sail stories, from Black Mask, may have been the first FL based crime stories. Dent felt that these were the best two things he ever wrote. He though the rest was "Saleable crap". If Cap Shaw had remained editor of Black Mask, Dent's legacy as a writer and Doc Savage's history may have been quite different.

I've read only one of those stories, but it was a good one.

I would definitely put Skink on the list and really, Mike Shayne is a pretty important character.
