And the Ripley books have made great movies, from the multiple versions of "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (I like the French version, with Alain Delon--titled, in English, "Purple Noon"--a lot) to John Malkovich's take on the character ("Ripley's Game," a truly incredible movie).
