Blood Marks and Texas Wind

Ed Gorman has a few kind words about books by me and James Reasoner.

Among the next on my list.

Meanwhile, Patti Abbott kinda wants to know what the top five westerns one might recommend to be.

For that matter, Bill, which of your own books are you most happy with?

Probably no one's ever really happy with any of his (or her) books after they're published. I'm fond of a lot of them, though, including BLOOD MARKS. I also like a couple of the Jack MacLane books a lot, GOOD NIGHT MOOM and BLOOD DREAMS. The Truman Smith books are favorites, and the Dan Rhodes novels are all fun to write. I guess I'm just a fan of myself.

And why not? Are you any less intelligent than your readers? Of course, I'm a big fan of the Boss Napier books, but that's because I'm also a fan of my other self.

Jack MacLane should make a comeback. I really liked all of those books.

Jack's chained in the basement for the duration, I'm afraid.

Who did that awesomely disturbing cover to Blood Dreams (that you now have highlighted on the scroll atop your blog)? Did you have anything to do with choosing it?

I have no idea who did the cover, and I had no choice in it. What you should see is the original cover they'd planned to use. It was a die-cut version of this one, and it was truly awesome. Then the editor left, and I got the shaft.
