They seem to be forgetting one thing regarding this trial--that he's been to Georgia on a fast train, honey, and he wasn't born no yesterday. He's got a good Christian raisin' and an eighth-grade education--ain't no need for them to treat him thataway.
I have a friend who was one of Billy Joe's high school teachers, but maybe Billy Joe stopped learning after the 8th grade. He's just an old chunk of coal, so they can't hurt him.
Billy Joe was in Duvall's movie about a preacher The Apostle and a later one called Second Hand Lions. I loved another article that had BillyJoe, during a break in the trial, taking a man over to where Duvall saying "I'd like you to meet my bailbondsman." Also, the doctor who treated the "victim" was asked if the guy was drunk and the doc said "All my patients are drunk or on drugs." He later amended that to 85%.
