Sorry to hear this. I knew of his battle with Alzheimer's and that of his children for control of his paintings.

Sad.

Awful to hear. He's a favorite, so many pulp covers AND more.

Those strokes just added up, I guess. Not surprising. You picked one of my favorite pieces of art for your post.

A real shame. He was the first superstar of comic fandom. At times like this I hate the idea of aging.

I hate it all the time, but especially when someone like this passes on.

Another icon of my youth has passed on; he was my all-time favorite artist. IS my all-time favorite, I should say, ever since I traded I-forget-what for a copy of CREEPY no. 3 more'n 45 years ago. He hadn't done much new in years, but god I'm going to hate knowing he's no longer with us.

The man was a giant. And because of his paintings that graced many paperback covers, he brought the joy of reading to many baby boomers.

"He rose at dawn and, fired with hope,
Shot o'er the seething harbor-bar,
And reach'd the ship and caught the rope,
And whistled to the morning star"

My first exposure to his art remains my favorite - the cover for National Lampoon.

A great one, all right.

Frank Frazetta’s covers sold more bad books than Harlequin. And they were a vital part of my tawdry youth.

I loved the Frazetta covers on the early CONAN books. And he painted some classic covers on some of the Edgar Rice Burroughs' ACE editions. Frazetta was unique.

Very sad to hear. I have his framed art prints on my walls. He'll be missed.
