Exactly, Todd. Maybe every comedy writer should see them to learn what not to do?

I have to wonder if that was just a childhood blind spot for Hader...what he liked instead of the Stooges (and I don't mean Iggy's). Most of the films are pretty impressive and/or have interesting aspects to them...you'd have to reach for THE JERK or THE GROOVE TUBE to get nearly as bad in the same direction as 1941, and both of those have some good aspects/bits to them. Might as well cite NEIGHBORS or PORKY'S.

He's not the only one with a soft spot for 1941. I don't, but I know some who do.

I remember reading that when they were considering hiring Avildsen to direct NEIGHBORS the question they asked him was what movie he considered funny. And yet when he answered "1941" they hired him anyway.
