The Spice Girls is the worse thing that Britain did to the US since they burned the White House.

Many 'tween girls from the 90s wouldn't agree.

Well, I'm pretty sure 'tween girls from the nineties also don't know that the British burned the White House in the War of 1812.

The way I remember (I was thirteen or fourteen at the time) it was boys who were the fans. Of course, they watched the music videos with the sound off.

My daughters are a bit younger--being tweeners in the early 2000s--but they loved that song AND they know the British burned the White House...then again, they are my kids.

/Based on the criteria for "catchy"--instantly recognizable--I'd go with "Venus" by Shocking Blue. But I'm a baby boomer.

I'm 43 and I still like that song.

FreeLiveFree: You were thirteen or fourteen when the British burned the White House? Wow.

Just kidding!

Anywway, it's obviously "The Macarena" - or maybe "Ice Ice Baby."

Jackie was teaching when The Spice Girls were "big" and believe me, at least in the second and third grades it was the girls who liked them.

Older grades, I can't speak for.

Without making any great case for the PreFab Five, they were at least less bad than "The Macarena" or "Ice Ice Baby"...
