Windsong by Prince Matchabelli was my first "adult" fragrance--I can sing that song from memory to this day. I eventually graduated to Charlie. I'm surprised the article omitted Love's Baby Soft which, despite its name, was the first grown-up fragrance for many girls of my generation.

Hey, if Charles Revson named Charlie after himself and had a huge hit, who's to say his son can't do the same with Jontue?

Everybody, apparently.

I did have a bottle of Hai Karate which lasted for several years.

The commercial I liked was a Christmastime ad for Chanel No. 5, I think. While the Ink Spots sing, "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire" a person dives into a pool and a couple says, "Charles." "Catherine."

I think the tag was "Share the fantasy."

That one with the Ink Spots was great.

Yes! That was the first time I'd ever heard that song and went in search of it (which took a while in the pre-google days). The woman who dived into the pool was a French model/actress. Carol Bouquet?

Chanel later used Nina Simone's "My Baby Just Cares for Me" which I also sought out.

That was another great one.
