My two cents, for what it's worth: Of the ones I've read, Roz Chast's Can't We Talk about Something More Pleasant is the best, perfectly capturing what it's like to try to take care of aging (but independent) parents.

I tried to like A Brief History of Seven Killings, but it was do violent--and the attempt to write in patois seemed almost condescending to me, sort of like Margaret Mitchell's approximation of Mammy's voice in Gone with the Wind.

I'm afraid Chast's book would hit too close to home, considering my age and situation. I'm not really interested in any of the others.
