All this talk about dolls in horror fiction reminds me of one of the books in the Dresden Files. Wizard/PI Harry Dresden is investigating a case at horror film festival when movie monsters start coming to life. After battling a xenomorph from Alien, either Freddy Kruger or Jason, and barely escaping with his life, Harry goes up against Chucky from Child's Play. He then just whacks it with his staff and sends it flying. He then wonders why anyone would be scared of a doll.
