Frank Sinatra Jr., R. I. P.

Washington Times: Frank Sinatra Jr. died of a massive heart attack Wednesday afternoon in Florida, TMZ reported. The 72-year-old singer was in Daytona Beach for a concert when he died suddenly, the entertainment site wrote, citing a Sinatra family representative.

Hat tip to Jeff Meyerson.

It is kind of surprising, isn't it, that there has never been a movie version of the kidnapping of Frank Sinatra, Jr. in 1963. I think the story has the elements, as they say.

I always felt a little sorry for Frank Jr. How difficult it must have been to have lived his life in the shadow of his father, pursuing the same profession and bearing the same name. I wouldn't have wanted to do it.

It had to be tough, and being famous mainly for being kidnapped must have hurt. Nancy had her fling with fame and did very well for a while.

Patrick--there was a movie about the kidnapping, it's called STEALING SINATRA: http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0311863/

In fact, it was rather controversial because there's a California law that says a criminal can't make money from his crime and the movie was based in part on a book written by one of the kidnappers.

Ah, thank you. I had no idea. I guess TV movies often go beneath my radar.

I thought his singing career died decades ago.
