The second picture is what it was like when we were kids too. To get from where you set up to the ocean, you'd try to negotiate from blanket to blanket to avoid the burning hot sand as much as possible.

The line at Nathan's brings back memories too. From the picture two below that you can see (sort of) that back then you could still go "under the boardwalk" to get from the street to the beach, not to mention get a little shade (and privacy!). The "Lost Children" picture shows that too. Sadly, there is no longer a way under the boardwalk.

The Parachute Jump has been long closed, but the Cyclone still lives.
